Jose is widely recognized as one of California's leading communication and public affairs strategists. He has advised and managed large-scale and complex projects for corporations, labor unions, coalitions, nonprofit organizations, and public agencies on a wide range of issues. In 2016, he co-founded Hermocillo-Azevedo Strategic Communications LLC, a Sacramento-based consulting firm focused on crisis communication and issue management. With a career spanning more than three decades, Jose has also managed the Sacramento office of APCO Worldwide as executive director, was a partner in a political consulting firm, practiced law, was a registered lobbyist and worked as a committee consultant in the California State Senate.
Jose earned his Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College, where he was recognized with distinction in the government department. He went on to obtain a Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law. After being admitted to the State Bar of California, he received a certificate in trial and appellate advocacy from University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Jose served two terms as the Chairman of Valley Vision's board of directors (2015-16), and will lead the organization's new public opinion polling committee in 2017.
