Bill has been with Valley Vision since 2005, starting out as a board member representing Intel Corporation, then joining the management team and later becoming CEO in 2008. A native Californian, he grew up in a small town in the Sierra Foothills, played high school sports (go Miners!), and knew his ticket to success was to get a college education -- the first in his family. He went to Sierra College, then Sac State, graduating with a double BA in government and communications. His first job was working in politics for a local Assemblyman and Senator, then for a US congressman both here and in Washington, DC. In the late 90’s he was recruited to work for the Sacramento Metro Chamber as its Vice President for Public Policy and Programs, part of turn-around team to rebuild the century-old business group. Four (hard) years later after achieving that turn-around, he went to work for Intel in Folsom, CA, as a public affairs manager. As his job and responsibilities grew, he was promoted to the role of Global Business Manager, supporting Intel’s Public Affairs organization worldwide.
Today he leads Valley Vision in partnership with his volunteer leadership, and takes on the role as project lead for several complex projects too. Over his career in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, Bill has been variously called a regional thought leader, a creative problem solver, and a trusted facilitator and guide. He’s also got a strong creative streak, drawing models and diagrams on his cherished office whiteboard to simplify and illuminate.
Bill is a graduate of various leadership programs, including the American Leadership Forum (go Class XII!), and has three grown sons: Nick, Daniel and Brian. In his spare time he enjoys riding his road bike (staying upright most of the time), spending time in the outdoors hiking and fishing, and catching up on the latest trends in business, technology, and science.
