Giovanna is an Executive Fellow at Valley Vision. She is currently supporting efforts to expand the health portfolio and providing additional support on Village Square Sacramento and the Cleaner Air Partnership. Giovanna played a vital role in conducting the 2016 Community Health Needs Assessments and utilized her bilingual skills to identify the health needs in Latino communities across the Sacramento region.
Giovanna is a recent graduate from the California State University of Sacramento, where she studied Health Science with a concentration in Community Health Education. As a college student, Giovanna developed a passion for playing rugby, Public Health and Health Education. Her past experiences in community health include working with at-risk high school students towards achieving healthier lifestyles, providing health education on issues revolving around alcohol & violence, conducting research on Driving-Under-the-Influence programs, working to increase access to health insurance for Sacramento State students and families. Most recently, she became a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) to continue pursuing her passion for health education and helping others.
Giovanna cherishes her role as the second-oldest sister of seven siblings, working in a field she loves, spending time with friends and loved ones and traveling to Chile to visit family whenever she gets the chance. During her free time she enjoys cooking, baking, gardening, exercising, camping, along with engaging and connecting with fellow colleagues and community members.
