Tammy joined Valley Vision in 2014 as a Project Fellow supporting the air quality and broadband portfolios before being promoted to Project Manager and later Project Leader in June 2015. Prior to joining Valley Vision, she spent over two decades in the information technology and communications industry with technology-innovator Sun Microsystems, Inc., a Fortune Global 500 company acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2010. Since 2010, Tammy has been purposefully seeking work experiences that provide the opportunity to contribute to the social, economic, and environmental vitality of communities in California and around the globe.
Tammy’s two-years in the public sector include a stint with Sacramento's municipal electric utility, SMUD, working on programs and policy for voluntary renewable energy and carbon reduction. For the California Strategic Growth Council (state government), she contributed to several initiatives covering multiple policy areas related to sustainable communities planning, including improving air and water quality; preservation of natural resources; environmental protection; transportation planning; carbon reduction; affordable housing; and healthy communities. Tammy thrives on working in a dynamic environment focused on complex problems, and in understanding how the pieces fit together; she enjoys big-picture thinking, learning, and taking on new challenges.
Tammy grew up in Roy, Utah. She moved to California in her late teens where she worked her way through college while working for Sun, first attending community college and then graduating from San Jose State University. Outside of work, Tammy is a soccer-playing “soccer mom” who loves spending time with her family and has a passion for reading, travel, and nature. She also enjoys yoga, walking, biking, music, and art as well as good food. She is well-known among her friends for her original dance moves (moves that her daughter claims make her, “look like she’s being tasered”!).
