On behalf of GSEC, Metro Chamber, SACOG and Valley Vision, please join us on Thursday, May 28, 1:00 PM– 2:30 PM PST to learn more of our two-year effort to build a six-county inclusive economic strategy that will be our path forward for both near-term economic recovery and growth for the future.
Together with your fellow regional leaders – private, public, and nonprofit – we’ll be discussing the following:
• McKinsey Presentation – a forecast of a range of California-specific economic impact scenarios
• COVID-19 Crisis Framework – a discussion on COVID-19’s impact on our economy including stages of react, restart and recover
• Our Path Forward: The Prosperity Strategy – an overview of the core strategies and short-term initiatives as a foundational tool for our inclusive economic recovery and growth

Our Path Forward: The Prosperity Strategy is a strategic framework and bridge to action for the six-county Sacramento Region that prioritizes our core economic initiatives and will result in a more prosperous, equitable and resilient region. It is the result of two years of work by GSEC, Metro Chamber, SACOG and Valley Vision, and followed the release of the Brookings Institution report in 2018 which shared an economic picture of a region that was not growing, compared to other mid-markets, and presented many indicators that those most in need were falling behind.
The COVID-19 pandemic emerged just as The Prosperity Strategy was being finalized; the pandemic has wreaked more havoc on culture, economies and populations than anything in living memory – in our region and also across the state, our nation and globe. In this context, it became evident that all the work that had gone into The Prosperity Strategy over the past two years – including hundreds of interviews, convenings across the six counties, research by staff and Brookings Institution – has led to a work product that can be our framework towards economic restart and recovery at a time when
