Kari joined the Valley Vision team in 2015 as the program coordinator for the Energy Careers and Experience Program, a strategy to provide college students with internships within PG&E and the City of Fresno’s energy efficiency programs. The work fosters energy-use reduction and improves sustainability practices in the San Joaquin Valley.
Kari excels at scouting talent for energy internship programs as well as promoting and encouraging career advancement and workforce development in the energy sector. Kari’s work spans from Stockton to Bakersfield and has helped to generate more than 3 million kWh in energy savings in 2016 alone.
Kari’s roots stem from southeastern Wisconsin, but moved to Fresno in the late ‘80s. Her Central Valley energy reduction efforts lean on a broad set of talents in operations, team-building, project management, customer relations, quality control, and problem-solving—skills she’s honed from two decades of experience in the food and hospitality industry.
Kari has always been a devoted student and passionate about her community. While in college, she volunteered to help victims of crime with Fresno’s Victim Offender Reconciliation Program. She’s lent her time to events that aid food distribution to disadvantaged families, counseled high school students on career development and scholarships, and cooked meals for guests at hospitality homes. Today, Kari applies her leadership influence to youth development and women empowerment, serving as a troop leader for the National Girl Scouts of America.
Kari acquired a BA in Criminology and Restorative Justice from Fresno Pacific University, graduating summa cum laude. She also earned certificates in both Business Management and Management & Supervision.
