Renee Gibson is the Deputy Director of the Disability Insurance Branch for the Employment Development Department. The Disability Insurance Branch administers the State Disability Insurance (SDI) program that contributes to the economic security of California by providing affordable benefits to eligible workers. Approximately 18.3 million California workers are covered by the SDI program.
Renee has been a public servant for over 30 years and carries a strong background in leadership, organizational development and strategic planning. Renee has extensive experience in implementing, leading and overseeing large statewide programs with external-facing and customer-oriented operations such as paid family leave, child support, court ordered debt, personal income tax and tax enforcement programs. Prior to joining EDD in 2013, Renee held various leadership positions with the Franchise Tax Board and served on many key initiatives.
Renee is a leadership coach often invited to speak on organizational culture, leadership development and talent growth and engagement. Renee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and is a graduate of Leadership for Government Executives from California State University, Sacramento.
Renee’s civic accomplishments span over two decades. She has been a part of many initiatives designed to connect youth and women to resources they need to succeed. Renee is committed to serving her community and has built strong relationships with external partners and advocacy groups. She continues to be a strong advocate for public servitude and for delivering innovative and quality services to the people of California.
Renee lives in Elk Grove and is the proud mother of Ashtyn and Brittney and the proud active grandmother of Laylani, Maliyah and Samiyah!
