What is the goal?
To help Californians make cost-effective improvements to their homes to save energy, save money, and improve comfort and livability. Energy Upgrade California is a statewide program that connects residents to rebates, incentives and financing to support home retrofit projects that result in energy savings.
Why is this important?
For homeowners energy savings can amount to “extra” dollars in their pockets each month that can go towards other priorities. Meanwhile, improving energy efficiency also improves the functioning and comfort in the home– getting rid of drafts and making the home’s heating and air systems work optimally. Because buildings account for 40% of carbon emissions in the Sacramento region they are an important place to start working on reducing our contributions to climate change.
What is Valley Vision doing about it?
Valley Vision helped launch Energy Upgrade California in Yolo and Sacramento Counties in 2011. Valley Vision organized and hosted dozens of homeowner workshops with experts to help with the decision-making process and provide enough background for taking action. Likewise, we planned forums and trainings for contractors interested in building their expertise and getting new certifications in the home energy upgrade field.
Valley Vision was involved in the Energy Upgrade California program between 2010 and 2012.
