The California Cap and Trade Program released $832 million in Greenhouse Gas Reduction Funds (GGRF) in fiscal year 2014-15. These funds support programs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, deliver needed co-benefits, and largely focus on identified disadvantaged communities.
The Sacramento Region is working together to receive GGRF awards and implement these needed programs in our region. Valley Vision manages a coalition of agency and organizational stakeholders to strategize, collaborate and coordinate the region’s GGRF applications. Valley Vision and Breathe California of Sacramento-Emigrant Trails are working together to ensure there is a strong community voice being heard in this process.
There have been three community forums between May and July 2015 to gather input into neighborhood needs, educate the community on GGRF programs and opportunities, and develop leadership and capacity around organizing in designated disadvantaged communities. This Community Engagement Profile presents some of the input received from those meetings.
